SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT!!!
8th graders will be leaving next week for Washington D.C. While there, they will be touring Arlington National Cemetery. Four 8th graders will have the opportunity to participate in the Laying of the Wreath Ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Students wrote an essay explaining why they would like to take part in this prestigious ceremony. Based on their essay, four students were chosen by a team of staff members. The winners are Casey Britton, Easton Kermode, Ava Tudor, and Daniel Spence. Congratulations on earning this tremendous honor to represent yourself, your school, your families and your community!

8th grade Health students created various personal hygiene Public Service Announcements (PSA) in this choice project. They then shared them with the whole school by having them out at lunch. Several chose to create videos and those were also played during lunch.

Congratulations to our own Amy Wilcoxon, who was recognized tonight by the Ohio Middle Level Association at their annual state conference! Her nomination read as follows:
Amy, the Head Custodian at Graham Middle School (GMS), is like the Swiss Army knife of the school, tackling roles like Student Council Advisor, event baker/chef, and special art installations, and the ultimate go-to guru for staff assistance and fresh ideas. She also moonlights as the leader of community projects like "The Giving Loft" a free clothing store for families for multiple years. After 22 years at GMS, Amy is basically a student mentor superhero, enjoying personal interactions and teaching opportunities like a pro. She's also a champion advocate for students and parents in her service to the Champaign County Board of Developental Disabilities. Amy's list of accolades is longer than a CVS receipt. She's been recognized by the Ohio Arts Education Association as a Distinguished Citizen for Art Education and was also nominated recently for the RISE Award for her exemplary service. Yes, she's that awesome! Graham Middle School is incredibly lucky to have Amy wearing so many hats (and capes) at GMS.

Election day in Mrs. McGuire's class with the students, Mrs. Rouch and Mr. Perdue. Lessons this week about the branches of government and the democratic process of elections. Students then cast their own ballow. Students also treated staff by baking "election day" cookies.

Manufacturing Day at GMS was a success. This annual event allows students to consider career opportunities while partnering with local business and industry.
