Clam dissection in Mrs. Huff's 3rd period Animal Bio class. Students have been learning about the mollusk phylum, specifically the gastropod and bivalve classes, including snails and clams. The cephalopods (squids & octopods) will be coming next week. Today's goal for dissection was to cut through the adductor muscles, holding the shell shut and locate the gills, foot, visceral cavity, heart and intestine of the clam.

"Mrs. Huff's Chem 2 class is using a known concentration of a base to neutralize the unknown concentration of acid in an aspirin tablet. This process is called a titration. An indicator is used to determine when the neutralization has occurred. The indicator is colorless in the presence of an acid, but turns bright pink in the presence of a base. We know neutralization has occurred when the solution is a faint pink color. Further calculations with the concentration and volumes used can determine the unknown concentration of acid in the aspirin tablet."
