First graders in Mrs. Daubenspeck’s class competed in the “Great Mayflower Race” with several other first grade classes. Students were tasked with building a Mayflower that could float and sail across a tub of water.
We held our Leader in Me Club Day last week and this is just one of our awesome clubs - Jewelry Making!
Our students in 2nd grade had to design their Macys Day Balloon and describe it - before creating the finished product - our students sure did create some awesome balloons for their parade.

Fifth grade students got resourceful today and built marble runs to get their turkey (marble) through the school (maze) to escape being in the school Thanksgiving program!

Have a wonderful weekend Falcons!
These Kindergarten students were Focused Falcons during their UFLI lesson working on the phonics skills.
Our 1st grade students designed Mayflower Floats and then raced them to see whose STEM design will float across the water and whose might sink or get submerged by the water - the students cheered one another one!
Third graders participated in a STEM activity today where they learned about water surface tension. The challenge was to get a paper clip to float on the surface of the water like a water strider insect.

In our 5th grade Social Studies classes we have been learning about the Ancient Mesoamerican Civilizations such as the Maya, Inca, and Aztecs. The students were presented with a stem challenge over what they have learned about these civilizations. They were able to choose between building a 3D structure from one of the civilizations, making an ancient calendar or creating one of three different types of Mayan masks. The students had two weeks to follow the stem process of research, design and then creating their project. They were able to research and design at school and then create their project at home. The students did a fantastic job and were definitely up to the challenge!

4th grade used Candy Corn in a variety of STEM activities. We used a variety of strategies to solve multiplication problems, we watched a video on how candy corn is made, and designed and built candy corn on the cob towers!
