🧪🔬 Yesterday in Mr. Slone's middle school science class, students had a blast testing the acidity and basicity of different substances! Using blue and red litmus paper, they were able to see firsthand how acids and bases react. Blue litmus paper turns red in acids, and red litmus paper turns blue in bases.
They also explored red cabbage juice as a natural pH indicator. A variety of substances were tested and students learned how they interact with acids and bases in the world around us.

GHS Science Teacher, Tyler Bruns, was selected for The National Science Foundation - Collaborative Research Experience for Teachers.
The opportunity is a collaborative, multi-university program that aims to empower teachers with knowledge of electronic materials, packaging, and semiconductors and to relay that knowledge to their students. This will be a six-week summer experience that includes hands-on research, tours of local companies and cleanrooms, developmental activities, experiential learning about state-of-the-art electronics technology, and earning certifications. The experience wraps up with the development of class materials to be used in their classroom!
